Hypocrella siamensis Hywel-Jones & Mongkols.
References:Specimens were found on the underside of dicotyledonous leaves of forest plants. Hosts are Hemiptera (scale insects). Stromata discoid to pulvinate, up to 2 mm in diam., up to 1.5 mm high, pale brown, base surrounded by a small hypothallus; conidiomata pycnidial, with dark-brown ostioles, globose, up to 250 μm in diam., 350 μm high; conidiogenous cells phialidic, cylindrical, up to 25 μm long; paraphyses present, linear, filiform, up to 175 μm long, 1.5-2 μm wide; conidia narrowly fusoid, 10-15 x 2-2.5 μm. In culture the colonies on PDA are slow-growing, attaining a diam. of 6 mm and producing conidia after 4 wk at 20°C . Colonies are brown; in older cultures a reddish brown pigment appearing around the colonies is produced. Both the Hypocrella and the Aschersonia state have been found throughout the year in Thailand. There are records from Doi Inthanon National Park in the far north to Ton Nga Chang Wildlife Sanctuary in the south. This species has recently been reported from Queensland (Australia) (Hywel-Jones, unpubl. obs.).
