Anamorph state: Aschersonia-like
Description:Specimens were found on the underside of dicotyledonous leaves of forest plants. Hosts are scale insect nymphs (Hemiptera). Mongkolsamrit et al (2011) described the species as “stromata pulvinate, up to 3.5 mm diam, ca. 2 mm high, moderately hard, yellow-brown to orange-brown and brown internally. Perithecia scattered, embedded in the stroma, flask-shaped, 120–180 µm high, up to 80 µm wide. Asci 8-spored, up to 80 µm long, 5 µm wide. Ascospores 30-40 mm long x 1.0-1.5 mm wide, blunt at distal end, tardily fragmenting into four.” Ascospores germinated within 2 days on PDA. Colonies are slow-growing attaining a diam. of 5 mm after 45 d at 20oC. Colonies are pale yellow. Sometimes pale yellow conidia are mass produced spreading over the stromatic colonies. Collections of the teleomorph state of this species in Thailand have been from Khao Soi Dao Wildlife Sanctuary in May. To date there have been no records from monocotyledonous plants (eg. bamboo).
